Its highly customizable Home screen furthers the Samsung Galaxy S23's reputation as a capable smartphone.

Although your phone's Home screen may appear a little plain when you first set it up, Samsung offers a wide range of Home screen customization options, from matching the UI to your wallpaper to installing themes that alter the Home screen's overall appearance, to help you make it meet your needs.

The Samsung Galaxy S23's Home screen can be customised in the same (if not exactly the same) way on most other recent Samsung Galaxy smartphones, as shown in the instructions below.

The Quick Take

1. Tap the Galaxy S23 Home screen and hold it.

3. Select a theme and tap It to apply it to your Home screen.
4. Select Widgets and then drag a new widget onto your Home screen.

How to modify the home screen on a Samsung Galaxy S23

1. Step:Hold down the Home button on the Galaxy S23.

You must first switch to edit mode on your Galaxy S23 before you can customise the Home screen. You can do this by simply tapping and holding on any empty space on the Home screen. You can only reposition an icon or widget by doing this over it.

Step 2: Make your wallpaper personalised

To change the wallpaper for both the Home screen and the lock screen, go to the Home screen customization menu, tap Wallpaper and Style, and then tap Change wallpapers.

You can also select a colour scheme for your UI that matches your wallpaper by tapping Colour Palette from this menu. There are many options available based on your wallpaper, or you can select your own. To save your changes, simply tap Apply.

3. Step 3: Modify the appearance of your app icons

Themes will be your best friend if you want to customise your home screen in more ways than just changing the background. It's not a brand-new idea for Android; it's been around for a while, but it'll change not only your wallpaper but also the colour scheme of the user interface and the app icons.

You can browse, download, and install any theme you like by tapping Theme at the bottom of the Home screen customization menu, which will take you to Samsung's dedicated Theme store.

The problem? Most of the best themes cost money, if not all of them.

4. Step: Your home screen should have widgets.

The best way to give your Galaxy S23 Home screen additional functionality is with a widget, and there are many to choose from depending on the installed apps. Tap Widgets to open the widget menu from the home screen customization menu.

If you know which widget you're looking for, you can search from here or scroll through the list of first- and third-party widgets to see what's available. Once you've located a widget you want to use, you can move it anywhere on your home screen by simply tapping and holding the widget.

Troubleshooting

Can I modify how app icons appear on the Home screen?

Simply navigate to Settings > Home Screen > Home screen grid and choose the layout you'd like to use if you want to increase or decrease the number of app icons in a row on your Home screen. Be aware that this might ruin any existing widget or app icon layouts.

Can I prevent my Home screen from automatically adding new apps?

Yes, it's simple to stop there. Make sure "Add new apps to Home screen" is toggled off by going to Settings > Home Screen.

You can use as many widgets as you want, so have fun with it!
