Due to the economic crisis, inflation and uncertainty, smartphone sales worldwide have fallen to the highest level in a decade.
The sales figures of the devices during the period of October to December 2020 have been released by Canales, an organization that oversees the sale of smartphones.
During the last quarter of last year, the sale of
smartphones recorded a seventeen percent drop.
The quarter saw a significant increase in demand for
iPhones, making Apple the world's largest phone-selling company, with a market
share of 25 percent.
Overall, smartphone sales last year saw an eleven percent drop compared to 2021, which is the lowest figure in ten years.
The top company in terms of phone sales throughout the year
was Samsung, followed by Apple.
According to the report, due to the supply chain problems,
the production of the devices was lower than the demand, and due to the severe
economic situation, people bought less new phones.
